 Laura Hodge - Artistic Director

Producer / Director / Choreographer

Executive Artistic Director of San Diego Creative Arts Project, Laura is a Dance and Theatre Master Educator, Choreographer, Director, and Performing Artist, whose work is respected from Coast to Coast. Laura also formed the group San Diego Dance Now! last year to provide excellence in dance classes for the Uptown area.
 
Prior to SDCAP Laura was the Owner, Artistic Director of several award winning companies in Pittsburgh, Pa., where she was awarded a “Day in Her Honor” by The City Council, for bringing the communities of Arts, Music, and Culture together. Growing up in Pittsburgh, she trained with Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Point Park University, Pittsburgh Playhouse Conservatory, Carnegie Mellon University, and later with Bill T. Jones, and schools and workshops throughout NYC and LA.
 
As a performer, Laura has performed in numerous Musical Theatre productions, Dance Theatre companies, Theatrical Touring companies, Film, Television, both Pittsburgh and San Diego Symphonies, and does Voice Over work.
 
Teaching credits from Coast to Coast include: Point Park University, University of Pittsburgh, Irene Kaufmann JCC, Millenium (L.A.), Malashock Dance, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Civic Youth Ballet, Mary Murphy’s (“So You Think You Can Dance”) Champion Ballroom, and private coaching throughout.
 
As a Director, Choreographer, and Producer, Laura has choreographed over 15 full length dance concerts, directed and created original choreography for over 40 Musicals and Ballets, written plays for children's theatre, and worked on every artistic aspect of performance production.  Laura has developed outreach, and school programming that can be modified with artistic flair, to complement curriculum that schools are working on.
 
Former students have gone on to perform for Disneyland, Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre, Cirque Du Soleil, Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera, and have appeared in Film, and Television.
 
Laura ensures high standards of training and creativity that engage both youngsters and adults, beginner through professional. Laura believes that a dedication to creativity, proper training, and artistic integrity while encouraging students to explore their creativity in a nurturing and confident environment is what sets a higher standard for excellence in the Performing Arts.
 
Laura is so grateful to be working in San Diego with old friends and new, and most of all she would like to dedicate her work to The San Diego community, and to her family who have been the inspiration for every creative idea, support, and love.
